History

New Life Church of God began in 1934 under the original name of Adamsville Church of God. In that year the founders purchased a parcel of land on Blossburg Road in Adamsville Alabama and erected a small brick building which still stands today.   Although the building was small and very simply constructed, the spirit of worship was high. The early pastors, Bro. Jenkins Stephens, Brother Robert Bridgeman, and Brother Timothy Levert, Sr. led the people in faithful service for many years.

After the passing of Bro. Levert in 1981, the work at Adamsville stopped for a time.   During the years that the work was closed, a faithful saint Sister Pauline Hogan kept the church alive in her spirit. In 1987, Elder Arthur F. Holloway, Sr. who also had a vision to reopen the work at Adamsville began the process. The dream soon came to pass as Sister Hogan and others joined in to provide labor and funds for the reopening. To better distinguish the church, the name was changed to Adamsville First Church of God.  The work became even more fruitful as others were inspired to come worship and serve.

In 1997, Elder Holloway was led to other ministerial opportunities. That same year, Brother Donald R. Irby was selected as Interim Pastor, and was later asked to serve as Pastor.   The move to our present location on 1st Street in Graysville, Alabama came about on May 6, 2012. The church name was soon changed to New Life Church of God to more appropriately reflect our vision and aspiration. Under the leadership of Elder Donald Irby, the church congregation blossoms with the love of God as it reaches out to those in the community.
